Pringles and Star Wars joined forces and reached out to the public to have a commercial created that joined the two brands together. Erik Beck, Justin Johnson. and their production team Indie Machines wrote, cast, directed, and edited together a brilliant piece of work that impressed both the general public and judges alike. Their commercial took home the gold winning first place and premiered during Joss Whedon’s new television program Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I was brought onto the team in order to make their ‘money shot’ shine. Towards the end of the commercial you will see Justin Johnson biting into a Pringles chip just as their boss passes by in the hallway; That scene was not so perfectly timed in real life. The raw footage I received has Justin eating the chip while the boss is much further down the hallway, along with some background people passing by creating a visual distraction. It was my job to go in and merge the two clips together into one seamless and natural looking image while also cleaning up all outside distractions, reflections, and shadows from the floor, walls, and glass.
